Hawboldt is excited to announce that we have begun preliminary design work with Robert Allan Ltd. on Canadian Coast Guard’s (CCG’s) exciting new Near Shore Fishing Research Vessel (NSFRV) project! CCG’s fleet of NSFRV’s play a key role in the delivery of fishery research in Canada’s waterways, with three currently in service. The newest addition will build on the proven designs of the previous NSFRV’s, while taking a leap forward in Green Technology focused and Sustainable vessel design.
Hawboldt’s scope will be as the Deck Equipment Single Source Integrator (SSI), which is a responsibility critical to the vessel’s missions and purpose. The vessel will be tasked with performing both fishing and science research, and the deck equipment scope of supply will include an extensive set of gear such as: Stern A-Frame, General Purpose Winch, Removable Net Drum, Trawl Winches (2), Deck Crane, CTD Winch, Side J-Frame, Mooring Reel, Trawl Blocks (2), Pot Hauler and Davit, Metering and Non-Metering Sheaves, Control Chair, Hydraulic Power Unit, Remote and Local Controls, and VFD’s.
Hawboldt’s vision ‘to develop marine technology to make the world’s ships lighter, stronger, and smarter in pursuit of a sustainable ocean economy’ marries perfectly with CCG’s approach to this project, and we are confident the result will be delivery of a ship all parties can be proud of. Green Technologies resulting in a Net reduction in CO2 Greenhouse Gas Emissions that are being considered for this vessel include:
-High Efficiency Permanent Magnet Motor Powertrain for winches
-Energy Recovery and Storage in Battery Banks
-Deck Equipment connected to High Voltage DC Bus
Hawboldt’s proposed suite of equipment builds on decades of experience, and successful supply of equipment for Canada’s existing fisheries research fleet, including both the NSFRV and OFSV fleet of vessels.
