Deck Equipment and Commissioning Services for the Mid-Shore Patrol Vessels.

Project:

The Canadian Coast Guard owns and operates the federal government’s civilian fleet, and provides key maritime services to Canadians. As a Special Operating Agency of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the Canadian Coast Guard helps DFO meet its responsibility to ensure safe and accessible waterways for Canadians. The Canadian Coast Guard also hosts Fisheries and Oceans Canada fisheries researchers and scientists who conduct critical oceanographic and scientific research in Canadian inshore waters. Irving Shipbuilding of Halifax, Nova Scotia was awarded the contract to build the nine mid-shore patrol vessels. Hawboldt Industries has supplied a wide variety of marine lifting and winching equipment to over 30 vessels within the Canadian Coast Guard fleet.

Challenge:

Irving Shipbuilding and its customer The Canadian Coast Guard needed to find a trusted and valued Canadian supplier to provide the nine vessels with deck equipment designed to meet their specific design requirements.

Success:

Hawboldt Industries is a leading Canadian designer and manufacturer of marine lifting and line handling equipment. After being awarded the contract to supply nine sets of Anchor Winches, Capstans and Tow-Line Reels to the nine vessels, Hawboldt was also awarded a secondary contract for commissioning services.
