Deck Equipment for 22m and 25m Canadian Coast Guard Inshore Science Vessels

Project:

The Canadian Coast Guard owns and operates the federal government’s civilian fleet, and provides key maritime services to Canadians. As a Special Operating Agency of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the Canadian Coast Guard helps DFO meet its responsibility to ensure safe and accessible waterways for Canadians. The Canadian Coast Guard also hosts Fisheries and Oceans Canada fisheries researchers and scientists who conduct critical oceanographic and scientific research in Canada’s inshore waters. M’ridien Maritime Reparation of Matane, Quebec has been awarded the contract to build the 22m and 25m Inshore Science Vessels. Hawboldt Industries have supplied various line handling and winching lifting application equipment to over 30 vessels within the Coast Guard fleet.

Challenge:

The Canadian Coast Guard needed to find a trusted and valued supplier to provide the three vessels with deck equipment designed to meet their specific design requirements. M’ridien Maritime Reparation had never worked with Hawboldt Industries in the past.

Success:

Hawboldt supplied three sets of deck equipment including anchor winches, net drums, trawl winches, instrumented blocks and CTD winches. All winches were supplied with cables installed on the drums by Hawboldt using controlled tension. This ensures smoother sea trials once the vessels are commissioned.
